Have you ever had a dream? Have you ever aspired to become someone great, but often it just fades away? You have always wondered why. It was always the thought of being not good enough that sets you back. In this era, it is hard not to be compared to someone else. However, that is inevitable. Even without the internet, that has become the norm within human nature. We have to figure out a way to break from this shell of negativity.

Luckily, someone has. Inspiration can be hard to find when you are in a challenging environment, but for some, inspiration comes in the form of negativity itself. Local 20-year-old rising musician; Airliftz who is an internet sensation and rapper, has gained a large following from Youtube as well as from the uploads of his rap videos on Twitter. This Malaysian musician with 4,000 followers on Twitter alone did not rise to where he is now with ease.
Alif Shaharom, also well-known as Airliftz, grew up as a victim of bullying due to being born with a medical condition; being born with a nose missing its cartilage.
Unfortunately, in school, being different was not a good thing. This condition made him stand out, but not in a positive way. Although we have always hoped that the ways have changed, it still has not. Thus, tired of being bullied, Airliftz underwent countless surgeries with different doctors up until he was 15 years old.

After several years, he found the silver lining. Music was the perfect platform for him to express his feelings as well to prove to the bullies that he was not “useless” as they used to ridicule him. In his latest song called “Appreciate”, the musician talked about what made him who he is today.
“Gonna get up on my ride, you know that I will never stop
Gotta get it going stay true with the proof for the room now”
According to people that he was surrounded by, music will never put food on the table. This made him motivated to pursue his dreams and prove them wrong. Now that success is starting to come to his life, the same people wanted to get a piece of it as well. However, according to Airliftz, “Y’all (people) never had my back”. Although the success is starting, Airliftz, stays true to himself. Never letting the fame get inside his head, staying within his close circle of friends that have been with him since the start.
Don’t be afraid to follow what makes you happy. In the end, isn’t that what life is all about? Making choices and living with them. It’s up to you to decide whether you want it to be a regretful one, the ignorant one or the lively one?
