 01 : KICKDRUM

At a youth some individuals are able to generate weird sounds with their mouth. This form of expression is known as “beatboxing”. During teenage years only people discover that it can be a legitimate profession in a form of expression.

This article is written to motivate beginners with helpful tips that may benefit them towards their journey in learning beatboxing.

Starting off with the kick drum. It is one of the most basic sounds in the beatboxing field, as it is usually spoken as the letter "B". Nowadays, the kick drum is a significant sound in any beatboxer's or artist's beat pattern and routine. The kick drum is frequently utilized on the down beat, for example, if a measure has four thumps, the kick drum is typically played on the first of each measure.

If you don't have a clue what a kick drum is, you could find it on an actual drum set. There is a giant drum at the bottom, called the bass drum, where musicians will step on using a pedal.

The way to make this sound fully function in one's mouth, is by thinking about the letter "B". Without really vocalizing the letter "B", add pressure to your mouth and jut the weight through your mouth and cheeks.

You need to force the sound and air out from your chest to make the sound as solid and punchy as possible. Think about the letter "B" without vocalizing it and there you have it. You are now spitting miracles from your mouth!

Pro tip from Mak: Add more pressure to tighten the lips and mouth so that the sound would come out “clean” and generate a bigger impact on the speaker.

Lastly, we will be talking about how to create the hi-hat sound by combining two vocal letters, so make sure you don’t miss out. See you!
